Dear Friends and Family,

This has been quite a year, as I married off 3 children (2 of which were Corona weddings)!

But the main reason I am writing is because I am once again planning to ride the Bike4Chai charity ride this coming August.

Chai Lifeline is an organization that is dear to my heart, as they were a lifesaver for me and my family that carried us for over four years while my daughter Chaya Sorah a”h was sick.

While I realize that now is not the most opportune time for fundraising, I am asking that whoever can assist this wonderful cause should please contribute generously.

Chai Lifeline has been on the front lines of the Covid-19 pandemic, providing support and crisis management particularly to the immune compromised population. They need our assistance now more than ever.

Bike4Chai is THE major fundraising event of the year. The past two years have brought in close to ten million dollars each year; and in the 10 short years of Bike4Chai’s existence, the bikers have raised over 50 million dollars for Camp Simcha.

I have ridden since 2013, having raised over 10 thousand dollars each year, overall collecting over $90,000 for Bike4Chai.

Please join me once again.

I will be riding once again in memory of my father, R’ Nachum Avigdor zt”l and of course Chaya Sorah a”h.

Please visit bike4chai.com/shmuelweitzner or mail checks made out to Chai Lifeline to Weitzner Family at 1228 East 13th Street, Brooklyn NY 11230.

Finally, below is a poem I wrote after B4C2019.

Bike4Chai Fever

I must get out on the road again, for the annual Bike4Chai
And all I ask is a sturdy bike, and Strava to steer her by;
And the wheel’s kick, and the chain’s song, and the views - breathtaking,
And a grey mist, on the road’s surface, as a new dawn is breaking.

I must get out on the road again, for the 180 mile ride
For the call of Chai Lifeline’s beneficiaries, may not be denied;
And all I ask is a summery day, with my white tzitzis flying,
With the wind at my back, as I’m leading the pack, of 600 others who’re trying.

I must get out on the road again, where I become one with my bike
Where the carbon, rubber and air - carry me and my gear alike
And all I ask from the crowd at hand - in a pleasure that is all mine
Is the dancing in camp, makes me feel like a champ - crossing the World’s Greatest Finish Line!
