Bike4Chai 2020 Covid-19 Regulations, Protocols, and Policies

Bike4Chai 2020 promises to be our most unique event ever!
We are looking forward to seeing you all and hosting you in the safest way possible.
Safety is top priority at Bike4Chai, and this year’s event reflects our efforts to keep everyone safe and healthy without compromising on the camaraderie and exhilaration of the ride.
With the guidance of Dr. Dovid Friedman, M.D., CEO, CHEMED, we have planned for a safe Bike4Chai environment that will strictly adhere to NY and NJ COVID-19 guidelines.

Dr. Dovid Friedman M.D., CEO, CHEMED- Center for Health Education Medicine and Dentistry
With the outbreak of COVID-19, Dr. Friedman brought CHEMED Health Center to the forefront of Ocean County's pandemic response. He initiated the education of local providers and health care partners, county officials and clergy via infectious diseases experts. From the start, Dr. Friedman advocated to become the first local testing site. To date, CHEMED has provided over 12,000 COVID-19 tests.
Dr. Friedman led the Health Center through several phases – providing care for COVID-19 symptomatic patients, initiating Telehealth services so that care could continue for non-COVID-19 patients who were hesitant to come onsite, and a safe workflow for those who were. Dr Friedman created a community tracker to track new covid 19 cases.  At this time, Dr. Friedman is working with community partners to prepare  a local “second wave” response.

So what is changing? What will remain the same?
Bike4Chai 2020 will be a completely outdoor event in compliance with current regulations on outdoor gatherings.
All food,  amenities, and other planned entertainment will take place outdoors.
All riders, staff, and volunteers will be required to get tested for COVID-19 within 10 days before Bike4Chai and wear face masks at all times where social distancing of 6 feet is not possible. There will be a mandatory temperature check of all participants upon arrival.
We are taking every necessary precaution as there will be  at-risk children and adults who attend the event.
Hand sanitizing stations, sanitizing spray, and disinfectant wipes will be provided at all areas of the event for your use.

Registration:
Your personalized registration bag with signature Bike4Chai swag will be sent out prior to the event to minimize crowds at registration.
You will be able to exchange any necessary gear before the ride at our Gear Exchange Station.
As a safety precaution, you will still be required to check in when you arrive in the morning to pick up your Tracking Kit. Enough space will be provided for volunteers to oversee the check-in process and ensure social distancing.

Start Line:
We will be having a staggered Start Line beginning at 9am. Marked spaces will be designated for all riders to line up with ample space between each bike.
You will be sent off on the ride with the same music and excitement you’ve come to know as the Bike4Chai Start Line!

Rest Stops:
Rest Stops are one of the highlights of Bike4Chai.
We have planned many new entertainment  ideas to stay within all safety guidelines.
All food will be individually packaged or served by volunteers and servers.

Breakfast/Finish Line Celebration BBQ:
Bike4Chai will be serving breakfast and an all-day post-Finish Line celebratory BBQ.
All food will be served by servers only in an open tent buffet with extra stations to prevent crowding.
Seating will be outside of the tent with few seats per table.

Camp Simcha Lunch Stop:
What would Bike4Chai be without the opportunity to see the joy we bring to each child’s face? While we cannot ride into Camp Simcha, they will be able to host our Lunch Stop right outside camp where the Camp Simcha Without Borders day camp will be running. There will be music, excitement, dancing, and more, all in a completely socially distanced setting.

Finish Line:
Although we may not be riding through camp at The World’s Greatest Finish Line, we have planned a spectacular finish line celebration. Each rider will be greeted by music, celebration, and excitement as he completes the ride and will receive a finish line medal.

Spectators/Guests:
Given the circumstances, we are unable to host spectators this year. However, we are in the process of planning a spectacular live stream including the Start Line, Camp Simcha Lunch Stop, the Finish Line and new and exciting footage for your friends and family to view from the comfort and safety of their own homes.
Friends and family will be able to track you live through our all new and exclusive Bike4Chai Tracking app (soon to be released) and will be notified as you cross the Finish Line and other riding milestones so they can tune into the live stream and watch you ride.
