As you know, last year I participated in Bike4Chai, a 180-mile cycling event and fundraiser to support Chai Lifeline and their Camp Simcha program for seriously ill children. It turned out to be one of the most meaningful experiences of my life for three simple reasons:

1) The physical challenge of the training and the 180-ride pushed me well beyond my comfort zone but reinforced just how much we can achieve when we set a goal and work diligently.

2) The joy we brought to the Campers was overwhelming. After two days and 180 miles, the last stage of the ride took us into Camp Simcha where we were greeted by campers, families, and staff. I could not contain my emotions when these seriously ill children were smiling, dancing, and laughing with us riders. Knowing that despite their medical circumstances and daily struggles, we brought them unbridled joy and a renewed energy to fight their battles, is a feeling I will carry with me forever.

3) When I signed up for the ride and committed to the fundraising goal, I had no idea how to raise the money. Unlike other riders, I don’t have any corporate partners or benefactors. I simply asked my friends and family to help. I was completely blown away that so many agreed to help. Out of the 600 riders last year, many raise more money than I did, but only a few had more donors. I am truly honored that you felt my effort was worthy of your support. I am more grateful than words can describe.

This year many things are different. The world is different. For many, our livelihoods are different. What isn’t different is that, sadly, there are still many children fighting serious illnesses, and are just looking for any ray of hope. And once again, I will be cycling to help raise funds for Chai Lifeline and Camp Simcha – to give them the hope and help they need.

If you are able, I would be honored if you would join me again and donate. You can donate by clicking the button below or just let me know your pledge amount and Chai Lifeline with send you a statement.

I know this year for some it will be a challenge to donate. And I understand and appreciate your warm wished and kind words just the same. For those who are in position, I would be grateful if you are able to match your donation of last year or even increase it just a bit.

Wishing you good health and safety.

With Gratitude,
David
