As a medical professional on the frontlines working directly with those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, there is no greater time for me to help out those who depend on us most. Therefore, beyond my clinical responsibilities, I have also decided to take upon myself the incredible opportunity to join Bike4Chai, to help support children diagnosed with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as their families, at a time that has challenged even the most healthy and successful. I am joining this exhilarating 80-120 mile cycling race in memory of my grandfather, Ezra Schrem, and am humbled by this opportunity. Please help me in my efforts to help those in need, and together we can make a difference.

There is a first time for everything. My first year as a medical resident has been in the midst of a global pandemic, where I have actively led patients through hardship on a daily basis. This will also be my first time taking on the Bike4Chai challenge. There is no more relevant time, and on a personal level, I am compelled to help.

Each year, Bike4Chai, a premier cycling event, raises funds for Chai Lifeline, enabling them to provide critical programs and services to its nearly 6,000 children and families across the globe. While we don’t know what the future holds, we do know that our children and families are still counting on us today. We must still find ways to bring happiness and hope into the lives of those impacted by pediatric illness, especially in light of the pandemic. We cannot, and we will not let them down. I have committed myself to raising funds to support Chai Lifeline in doing what they do best.
