For the past ten years, more than 1,000 people from across the globe have taken part in Bike4Chai, a life-changing cycling experience benefiting Chai Lifeline, an international children's health support network. This is no ordinary ride. Bike4Chai is an exhilarating, 180-mile cycling event that culminates at the World's Greatest Finish Line in Camp Simcha, Chai Lifeline's renowned medically supervised summer program for children with life-threatening and lifelong illnesses. This year is different for all of us. While the world has seemingly “shut down” due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Chai Lifeline has been busier than ever offering continued care and support to its vulnerable families. Though Bike4Chai may seem months and miles away, the children and families that rely on Chai Lifeline's services need our support now more than ever before.

Throughout this crisis, Chai Lifeline has been providing families with essential services, including meals delivered to hospitals and homes, transportation to medical appointments, emergency financial assistance, counseling, insurance advocacy, personal protective equipment for immunocompromised families, and care packages and virtual programming for quarantined children.

While we don't know what the future holds for this year's ride. or more importantly, for our children, we can all have a powerful impact today. We are determined to continue helping our families during this critical time by raising as much money as we have in previous years.

2020 marks my 8th consecutive year riding at Bike4Chai. Last year, ‘Team Canada' raised over $500,000. As a group, 575 riders raised over $10.3 million! This year, our goal for Team Canada is $1,000,000! We can't do it without you!

It has been almost 7 years now since I crossed the finish line in the 2013 Bike4Chai ride, but the memory of that day will never be forgotten. I remember the extraordinary feeling of rolling into Camp Simcha after 2 days and 290km (180 miles) of riding, watching the smiles on these kids' faces. I was looking for one particular boy who travelled all the way from Montreal to watch me cross that finish line. After a few minutes of confusion, I was notified that my dear brother in law fell into a coma on his way to the finish line which was his final journey and dream.

This year, I am riding in honour of that very special person. My close friend and dear brother in law, Joshua, an exceptional individual, suffered a lifelong chronic illness and went through so much in his 20 years. Not physically big, he was a giant in character. He never complained, was always grateful and had a terrific sense of humour. With difficulty communicating, his message and example came through loud and clear.

Please join me and contribute to my page by clicking the button below, help me reach my goal of $5,000. This year's journey may look a little different, but our goal remains the same.

Thank you for supporting me, and in doing so, helping children and their families cope with the diagnosis, treatment, and the aftermath of serious pediatric illness.

Best Regards,

Eli
